Steven Gerrard’s vision is taking shape as the football returns

Seems like an eternity since the announcement of Steven Gerrard in the Ibrox hot seat, in reality it’s been a little under 2 months for all of us to wait.

But the time to see the gaffer put his plans into action is almost upon us, as we head into pre-season action. TNS is a closed door friendly early next week followed by Bury at Ibrox on the Friday night. I’m very excited to get back to Ibrox again and get an early peek at some of the new players.

Bury will be the chance to see Gerrard’s philosophy for the first time. We know from his own words that we will play a high tempo, pressing, aggressive game. That requires lots of energy so it is of no surprise the type of players coming into Ibrox lately and in the coming weeks.

The players have been worked extremely hard in Spain, carbs banned from the menu. The players training two or three times a day, some sessions strictly fitness as the boss looks to have us ready for Europe the week after next. The players have said to have been highly impressed by the management team, Gerrard described as ‘all business and no ego’.

Indeed he has had one to ones with most of the players, discussing his vision and making sure all the players are pulling in the right direction. Gerrard has even discussed squad numbers with each individual to ensure every detail, no matter how small, is perfect as he begins his managerial career at Ibrox.

Gerrard has also spoke of his delight at the facilities in Spain. Quoted as saying he was very happy and would like to return in the future. Certainly puts to bed some of the constant nonsense & noise by the irrelevant.

On the transfer front, as now widely reported, two new faces are set to arrive in coming days. Umar Sadiq & Lassana Coulibaly will arrive on one year loan deals next week. We know both are 6ft 4 and 6 ft respectively, both said to have incredible engines and an incredible team work ethic. Pacey and Athletic the spine of the team is certainly beginning to take shape.

When you consider the type of player we have brought in, in terms if height, pace and stature it is very clear what we are trying to do.

That direct energy will be exactly what’s required to fit in with the ‘high press’ strategy of Gerrard’s.

Ayoub el Kaabi the Moroccan world cup striker is a player Rangers are apparently keeping an eye on, again pacey and 6 ft tall he would fit into the managers thinking. It will be extremely interesting to see if anything comes of the rumours and we do formalise any interest we may have

With less than a month gone in the window we can be happy with the window so far. I still expect more deals to be done and money to be spent, I had previously blogged I expected 4 players (CM, Winger and 2 strikers). If you consider two will arrive next week there is still room for more

What will be equally as interesting is if we can get players out the door. I have no doubt Gerrard is hoping to move on at least 6 players from the first team pool but it all depends if they are willing to go and if the deal suits everyone. Hopefully we will begin to see action on this front in the coming weeks.

But for now as we wait for that news to break we have the excitement of Gerrard’s first Ibrox outing just round the corner.

We should be excited as we begin life under our new management team. The signings seem to all fit the way we want to play and hopefully they gel as quickly as possible. We can look forward to the managers new proposed philosophy with excitement and hopefully we are on the right path to success

The Steven Gerrard era is almost upon us, it still feels good to even say that

Ignore the nonsense, the irrelevant and the noise 🔴⚪️🔵
